Miracles…children…us…LOVE

“…Because it is not LOVE to be static like the desert, nor is it LOVE to roam the world like the wind. And it is not LOVE to see everything from a distance…LOVE is the force that improves and transforms the soul of the world”
Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

I watch my children with wonder and awe; remarkably lost in the miracle that makes them BE. I am grateful I can still see the infants, the toddlers, the children, the tweens and the teens who live…innocently…wondrously. I have met them so many times yet I know who they are forever. I pray that they never lose their spirit and that I may meet them over and over again.

I hope and pray that I will be able to help them navigate the difficult currents they may experience. Yet, I hope and I pray they will have the strength and courage to face those currents with confidence and promise.

I hope and I pray that I have the wisdom to speak the words they need to hear; words that will guide them well. Yet I hope and pray they hear and listen to their own heart’s wisdom and are guided by love and wonder.

I hope and I pray for the patience to observe when I want to act, forgive when I want to lecture, speak with a hug instead of words, let go when I want to hold tight…I hope and pray that I nurture their spirit

I hope and I pray that my heart is open, so I may learn from their hearts, their spirit, their wisdom…

I hope and I pray for the strength to listen to my heart, to feel the quiet space, receive God’s counsel, feed my soul and open my spirit to be the father my children need me to be…

“We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.”
E.E. Cummings
